A PUPPETHAND'S GUIDE TO THE RAINY CITY

A PUPPETHAND'S GUIDE TO THE RAINY CITY

A PUPPETHAND'S GUIDE TO THE RAINY CITY, by Andrew D. Devenney and Bill Spytma, explores a hitherto unearthed avenue of urban criminality in the Rainy City: the perfidy of street puppetry. It is the first zine in a new series of Rainy City zines, calledĀ THE LESSER KEY OF THE SANDESTIN, showcasing several curious and distinct areas of life and lore in the Rainy City–a doomed fantasy metropolis at the end of the world where wizards guard their rotting magical tomes, gargoyles leer from the rain-drenched rooftops, and thieves prowl through the closes and back alleys looking for scores, all while the rains never stop!

TheĀ PUPPETHAND'S GUIDEĀ is a companion zine toĀ A VISITOR'S GUIDE TO THE RAINY CITY. However, unlike that system-neutral zine, theĀ PUPPETHAND'S GUIDEĀ is built to work withĀ Into the OddĀ by Chris McDowall, using the Mark of the Odd license. That being said, much of the world-building in the zine remains system-neutral, meaning any busy GM needing quick flavor or interesting content can use theĀ PUPPETHAND'S GUIDEĀ for their own campaigns without much work.

What’s Included inĀ A PUPPETHAND'S GUIDE TO THE RAINY CITY? At 16 pages, over 18 pieces of unique art, and over 4,000 words,Ā PUPPETHAND'S GUIDEĀ explores the role popular puppeteering plays in the Rainy City's criminal underworld:

  • Rules for creating puppethand characters and their primary puppet companions for any Into the Odd game;
  • Examinations of the different types of puppet found in the Rainy City; the famous, infamous, or notorious puppethands that wield them; and whispers and gossip heard throughout the city about puppethand activities;
  • and A write up on Sennah the Strandcaster, the wizard puppetmaster who supposedly directs all illicit puppethand activity in the city (an unlikely proposition, to be sure, but then again, they are a Rainy City wizard…).
